A Day in the Life of the Product Team at Dōtō Health

For those with us, CareMother by Doto Health is a Femtech startup committed to creating equal opportunities for women's healthcare. Our mission is embodied in our name—“Dōtō,” which in Japanese means “equal.” We embarked on our journey by addressing our first challenge in pregnancy care, where we have made a significant impact.Our solution is designed to meet the need for continuous monitoring of both mother and fetus during pregnancy, enabling early detection of abnormalities. Although our product benefits expectant mothers, the key players in the process are the clinicians, who serve as catalysts for providing care.Our solution enhances clinical decision-making, empowering healthcare providers to deliver timely and effective interventions.

The Product Team's Approach

At Doto Health, our product team is driven by first-principles thinking. This means we focus on understanding the fundamental aspects of any problem before arriving at a solution. A significant part of our work involves deep domain understanding, which we cultivate through research and regular interactions with clinicians. Around 50% of our time is dedicated to learning and engaging directly with healthcare providers to better understand the on-ground realities. We also continuously explore new problem areas that contribute to the systemic challenges in healthcare.

As Kris Gale, VP of Engineering at Yammer, once said: “The value is in what gets used, not in what gets built.” We align with this philosophy by frequently interacting with our users to gather feedback, which helps us identify gaps and refine our products to better serve our customers. Our customer base is diverse, spanning both private healthcare providers and public health systems, each with its own unique challenges. To accommodate this diversity, we map out the pain points in the user journey.
